Attingham Park - Spring 2012

On Tuesday we revisited Attingham Park to see what had changed for the spring. This time we took Eleanor along and we had eight pre-schoolers with us.

Leaves are starting to shoot on the trees

Tyler loves the sunny weather

We saw some cattle out on the fields

Eleanor taught us how to play 'Pooh Sticks' ask her nicely and she will explain it to you so you can have a go

We saw a helicopter flying low over the trees

We saw lots of deer, the stags have horns called antlers

We all sat quietly to watch the deer

We saw a pair of swans

It was a long way up the hill to see the deer so we sat on a log pile for a rest

Amee collected a lot of pine cones

From the Column in Shrewsbury

Last Thursday we went up the Lord Hill Column in Shrewsbury to take some pictures for use with Microsoft's Photosynth. Between us we gathered almost 200 images. These images were then loaded onto the Photosynth web site and we have spent some time annotating the file so you can find various points of interest around Shrewsbury.

You can find the final images here - Shrewsbury Photosynth.

The Lord Hill Column is 13 feet taller than Nelson's Column in London and is a fantastic place to see around Shrewsbury. Be warned though, the column is 172 steps top to bottom and is quite steep - but the views are definitely worth it.

Haughmond Hill

A walk through the woods, tons of nature to observe from fossils to seedlings and then an amazing view - that is what we found at Haughmond Hill.

Crocky Trails

Loved by everyone, Crocky Trails is always fun. Super slides, Giant Roundabouts, the Titanic and then all those bridges and swings over the stream. Great day out and fun for everyone.

There was thunder in the valley!

Well not real thunder, just the sound of 12 pairs of young feet running up and down. Before lunch we went of up the trail to the waterfall - only to find barely a trickle. Then in the afternoon we went up another trail to the reservoir to launch our paper boats. The reservoir was still only a trickle so we
had fun rolling down the dam and stopped at one of the pools part way down to race our boats. Henry was the winner and poor Jess's boat unravelled and sank.

Wet and tired we headed back to Shrewsbury.
