The Olympic torch

The Pre-school children were so lucky to see the Olympic torch travel through Shrewsbury. Thank you very much to Kierans Mummy and Tylers Daddy for coming along with us, we all had a great time.

Michelle and Jo painted Union Jack flags on to our cheeks to show our support for the Olympics.

Here we are on our way to Old Potts Way to wait for the torch to be carried past. we were all very excited.

We waited so patiently for the runner to run up the hill with the torch.

We then saw the torches 'kiss' and the next torch bearer walked past us.

We also saw these balloons in the sky that were set up from Asda car park. They were red, white and blue to represent the colours from the Union Jack.

Attingham Park - Spring 2012

On Tuesday we revisited Attingham Park to see what had changed for the spring. This time we took Eleanor along and we had eight pre-schoolers with us.

Leaves are starting to shoot on the trees

Tyler loves the sunny weather

We saw some cattle out on the fields

Eleanor taught us how to play 'Pooh Sticks' ask her nicely and she will explain it to you so you can have a go

We saw a helicopter flying low over the trees

We saw lots of deer, the stags have horns called antlers

We all sat quietly to watch the deer

We saw a pair of swans

It was a long way up the hill to see the deer so we sat on a log pile for a rest

Amee collected a lot of pine cones

On Tuesday our Pre School performed their Christmas Play. The Little Christmas Tree, originally by Hans Christian Andersen, adapted for Pre School by Eleanor Gill and Michelle Hopkinson. This is the first year our Pre School has sung in both English and German.

Wednesday, 19 October 2011

Last year the teens got a giant bubble maker. This is a large inflatable plastic ring that you fill with bubble liquid and then place the circular bubble ring inside the liquid and slowly lift to make a person size bubble.

Last year we had problems making it work, in hindsight we didn't have enough helpers or enough bubble fluid in the ring. This year was different!
Here you can see the basic concept. The bubble ring has ridges so it holds enough of the bubble fluid to make sure the bubble lasts while it is being lifted.

The inflatable ring should contain enough bubble fluid to totally cover the bubble ring - more bubble fluid also helps weigh down the inflatable ring and flatten it out making it easier to cover the bubble ring.

Using helpers to make sure the whole of the ring is covered in fluid two people lift the bubble ring smoothly and quickly.

Everyone had a turn in standing inside the inflatable ring while the bubble ring was lifted up, surrounding them with a giant bubble.

Part way up

Almost there

Starting again

Almost up to shoulders

Over the head

Half way

Starting to look scared

Eyes shut tight

It's over my head

How high can we go

At least this high

Almost big enough to float away

Looking good at hair level

Over the head

One last try

... and over the head it is.

Haughmond Hill

A walk through the woods, tons of nature to observe from fossils to seedlings and then an amazing view - that is what we found at Haughmond Hill.

Hawkstone Park - Maize Maze

Just 2 words to describe the maze - 'absolutely huge' so big you could get lost - in fact we never did find the middle, in 2 hours. Fortunately there is a small maze you can practice in - we did solve that one! Great fun though.

Crocky Trails

Loved by everyone, Crocky Trails is always fun. Super slides, Giant Roundabouts, the Titanic and then all those bridges and swings over the stream. Great day out and fun for everyone.
