Messy Play with Babies and Toddlers

This week the babies and toddlers have been taking part in lots of messy play activities. They have enjoyed exploring shaving foam and soap flakes. Whilst these activities are a great way to introduce new and different textures for the children to explore they are also lots of fun and very messy!

Claire and Laura took the toddlers outside and made some soap flake mixture from the Grab and Go boxes.
Food colouring was added to the mixture to make different colours. We also added some strawberry essence so the mixture would smell different too. This was great as the toddlers used a lot of different senses during this activity.

And they both lean in to smell the strawberries

Lucinda liked the blue food colouring in her mixture and swirled it round with her brush

Diana also used a brush to spread the mixture along the table

Chicks

This week the Pre-school children had a visit from Eleanor who has chickens at her house. She brought in a big brown hen and four tiny yellow chicks. We all enjoyed learning about where the chicks came from and Eleanor told us how she looks after them, Next we all carefully stroked a chick while Jo held it, they felt very soft and they did alot of cheeping.

Madhatters tea party

On Friday 25th May 2012 the Pre school and toddler children were invited over to Asda to have a tea party. We all dressed up and while we were there we saw Snow white, Mario, Luigi and the king and queen of hearts.

The day was organised to raise money for a little girl who was poorly in hospital. After we ate our lunch we all made a card for her to send our well wishes. Here is Tyler using stickers to make his card.

We also had our faces painted. Becks sat so good while Sarah painted his cheek.

Amy had a butterfly painted on her face and was very happy with the end result.

The Olympic torch

The Pre-school children were so lucky to see the Olympic torch travel through Shrewsbury. Thank you very much to Kierans Mummy and Tylers Daddy for coming along with us, we all had a great time.

Michelle and Jo painted Union Jack flags on to our cheeks to show our support for the Olympics.

Here we are on our way to Old Potts Way to wait for the torch to be carried past. we were all very excited.

We waited so patiently for the runner to run up the hill with the torch.

We then saw the torches 'kiss' and the next torch bearer walked past us.

We also saw these balloons in the sky that were set up from Asda car park. They were red, white and blue to represent the colours from the Union Jack.
